Vienna

Vienna:

July 6th- Day 6- City 4
When we got to Vienna we checked into our hostel and found that they offered a laundry service for €12, which may seem a bit steep but split three ways and we didn't have to do the work made it totally  worth it.  Abbey, Taylor and I went trough our bags and piled in as much as we could fit in one load (we might have squished down the pile more a few times to make it all fit).

Reyes' flight got delayed so we spent most of the time waiting for her as a nap time. When she finally arrived we met her at the station and walked her back to the hostel. The lady at the front desk suggested a cheap restaurant for us to eat at and since there are four of us now it makes splitting meals easier. We walked around the town a bit and saw St. Peters cathedral. It was beautiful at night and completely insane with tourist in the morning. We called it an early night and made plans for the next day.

July 7th-Day 7- City 4
We woke up around ten and got ready to check out. We were able to store our luggage and eat some snacks Reyes brought before we headed to the Schronburn palace. We walked the massive gardens of the palace and did the audio guided tour of the inside of the palace. After that we headed to the opposite side of town, by metro thank goodness, and saw the amusement park and famous ferris wheel. We contemplated going on the water ride in the intense heat but settled on the prices for gelato instead. At that point we made it back to the hostel folded and packed up our CLEAN stuff and prepared for the train ride ahead. In the station we made a feast of sandwiches, peaches, a large bottle of coke and cookies. The train ride that awaited us was 8 hours long... Which soon became the longest 8 hours of our lives.

The sleeper car was tiny! It was basically two couches that folded into two beds and then two more beds above that. That tiny space plus 6 bodies and broken ac soon became a recipe for disaster. We got very acquainted with our two other bunk mates, Daniel from Australia who would have easily been part of our normal friends back home and a girl from South Korea who we tried to teach BS.   I wish we could have got their Facebook info like we did the people from Munich but due to the turn of events we didn't get any information.

Now back to what happened in the cart... We were having a lovely time playing cards when the AC broke after about an hour then after about an hour of baking in the coach the electricity went out as well. I already had a terrible migraine at this point and was getting ready to suck up sleeping in the heat to get rid of it when then they decided to evacuate the car, only the instructions were all very much in German, so we really had no idea what was going on. We were forced to sleep the next 8 hours in chairs when we paid extra for beds.

For the first 3 hours in the chairs the train was stopped and the lights on so there still was no AC(the train on) and more lights then ever. It was not fun. There were rumors that they were going to replace the car during the three hour layover, that rumor was a lie! We got very little sleep but we will supposedly get our money back for the sleeper train. Though we have to contact the exact office we bought the tickets through which happens to be in Frankfurt. We will deal with that when Abbey gets home.
