Salzburg

Salzburg:

Oh how I wish we had more time in Salzburg! It was home to my favorite meal and I liked the break from all the hectic cities to this more peaceful one.

July 5th- Day 5-City 3
Salzburg was absolutely gorgeous!!! The hills were definitely alive with the sound of music, it was the home of the Van Trapp family and where sound of music was filmed. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to go to the house we saw it from the top of a hill. But its on l my list of places I could live in the future.

Since we had such a short time we rented bikes and rode around the city. Abbey convinced the rental guy to give us half price since we only needed the bikes for the evening and after sorting out Taylor's flat tire problem we hit the sights. We hiked up the side of a hill an saw the Mozart museum. Taylor found this hole in the wall restaurant with the best food! We ate way too much and biked on back for an early bed time. Between the bike tour, the beautiful view, and the delicious dumplings Salzburg was hard to beat.

July 6th-Day 6-City 3
We woke up, checked out and had to put our luggage in a giant luggage mound in the basement. We made our way to the Fortress by passing through the Maribal gardens. We took the cable car up to the Fortress, so much better than hiking the steep switch backs for anyone on a time limit. We explored for a bit and went on an audio tour. Down in the town again we found a pretzel cart for a quick lunch before the trek to the train station for our 2 o'clock train to Vienna.
